Tasmanian Blackwood gives this 7.75 x 14 stave snare a balanced, warm voice with smooth upper frequencies and substantial low-mid body. The nearly 8-inch depth adds weight beneath the fundamental, while the 3/8-inch shell and 10-lug configuration maintain the focus and tuning control expected from a performance-ready main snare. It is a deep drum with a refined, versatile character rather than an excessively sharp or aggressive one.
A high-gloss finish reveals the natural movement and color variation that make Tasmanian Blackwood a prized Australian tonewood. Custom Antique Brushed Black Nickel hardware provides an aged dark contrast, while Copper Lightning Strike Carbon Fiber inlays add a bright metallic detail across the small spear-point lugs and port hole. A copper-plated badge completes the coordinated appointments. Royalton's lugs are CNC-milled from solid aircraft-grade aluminum. Handcrafted in the USA as a one-of-one Royalton instrument.

Sonic Profile
-
Attack
Deep and controlled. The nearly 8-inch depth (7.75") generates substantial low-end body and lingering resonance, while the 10-lug configuration and roundover edges naturally tame high-frequency overtones for a clean decay.
-
Tone
Warm, balanced, and refined. It delivers a versatile, full-bodied fundamental with strong low-mid support, excelling particularly at low and medium tunings.
-
Sustain
Smooth, warm, and articulate. The 3/8" stave construction and 16-strand wires provide clear definition, while the medium-density Tasmanian Blackwood (1,160 lbf) and roundover edges soften the initial transient for a refined strike.
