African Padauk gives this 7.5 x 14 stave snare a bright, resonant voice with pronounced attack and strong projection. The deeper shell adds body beneath the initial strike, while die-cast hoops help focus the tone and support tuning stability. Cut and assembled in a chevron orientation, the Padauk shell makes the construction itself part of both the visual design and the instrument's distinctive character.
A high-gloss finish intensifies Padauk's natural red-orange color and emphasizes the directional movement of the chevron pattern. Custom Antique Brushed Black Nickel hardware creates a dark contrast, while Gloss Woven Black Carbon Fiber inlays continue through the medium spear-point lugs and port hole. Royalton mills these lugs from solid aircraft-grade aluminum and completes the drum with a black-painted solid-copper badge. Handcrafted in the USA as a one-of-one Royalton instrument.
