RDC Signature Hardware

The idea to create our own signature hardware came from a desire to make drums that look as distinct and handcrafted as they sound, with hardware that reads as art rather than just function. We wanted lugs and fittings that carry a clear visual identity, and reflect the same attention to material, finish, and tolerance as the shells themselves. Developing signature hardware let us control every detail (strength, weight, fit, and finish), ensure consistent performance, and deliver a cohesive aesthetic that immediately sets our drums apart in a crowded market. signaling craftsmanship, premium quality, and a unique voice players can recognize at a glance. We further elevate that identity by offering custom inlays in our hardware, including carbon fiber, mother of pearl, pāua shell, and more, so each lug becomes a small work of art that ties the drum’s visual story together while adding tactile, luxury detail.

Jared Van Otterloo brought his world‑renowned knife‑design expertise to the project, collaborating with our team to translate precision engineering and refined aesthetics into our signature hardware. He helped sculpt the spear‑point lug profile for optimal strength, weight balance, and visual impact, advised on material selection and
finishing to ensure durability and cohesion with our drum designs.

Lugs, port holes, and badges are all RDC signature pieces, machined from aircraft grade aluminum right here in the US. Featuring inlays made from various materials from carbon fiber and Damasteel, to mother of pearl and timascus. The near-limitless options take the unique appeal of our drums to the next level.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of players are you building for?

We’re building for drummers who care about the details. Players who want a snare that feels inspiring in the hands, sounds huge in the room, and holds up when it’s time to actually play. Studio. Stage. Weekend gigs. Full-time grind. If you want a snare with real character and real craftsmanship, you’re our kind of player.

Do you offer custom builds, or only stock models?

If you'd like to inquire about a custom build fill out our contact form on the website with your details and specs and we'll let you know if its something our team is up for.

How do you balance consistency with one-of-one craftsmanship?

We stay consistent where it matters most: the build quality, the fit and finish, the hardware choices, and the way the drum responds. The one-of-one part is the personality: the wood, the finish, the small details that make it yours. Same standard every time.

How can someone contact you about a build or collaboration?

The easiest way is through our contact form on the website. Send us what you’re thinking, even if it’s just a rough idea, and we’ll follow up to talk through the details. If it’s a collaboration, include what you have in mind and any links so we can get a clear picture fast.
